Sexual misconduct charges sink ex-Prince of Wales skipper

Following remarks he reportedly made to female coworkers, the former captain of the nation’s newest aircraft carrier was fired.

A number of grievances against the naval commander were discovered during a lengthy examination into Captain Steve Higham.

Capt. Higham, a former Boris Johnson adviser, is now in charge of the £3.2 billion HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier.

The captain was accused of engaging in what they saw as improper “mentoring sessions” with female sailors.

Capt. Higham relinquished command of HMS Prince of Wales in May and seemed to be on track for promotion to rear admiral, but an inquiry was launched when a whistleblower who preferred to remain anonymous came forward.

There was “sufficient evidence to indicate his activities were wrong and his behaviour was not consistent with continuing Navy duty,” a source in the British Navy told The Sun.

The insider added: “A lot of individuals noted they had had improper encounters that were not acceptable with the military and the Royal Navy’s principles, which is why it took so long to investigate.”

“Having a connection with someone at your place of employment is not against the law, but it is not proper in the Navy.”

Since Capt. Higham is not charged with breaching the law, he has not received a court martial.

On Monday of this week, he was, however, “administratively dismissed” by the Navy’s highest command.
