The 30-year-old indie-techno-pop singer, whose real name is Luka Ivanović, sings in English and Serbian, with the song’s lyrics calling for “the awakening of humanity to all that is happening in the world and that as humanity we should make some change”.

Black’s music has been described as influenced by Queen, Elton John and Lady Gaga, while his stage show at Eurovision features a “giant alien pod”.

Black, who lives in London and has played in China, has more than 250,000 monthly Spotify listeners and his Eurovision track has been played over two million times.

He was nearly chosen to represent Serbia in 2016, but lost out to Sanja Vučić.

Fans were delighted by his semi-final performance, with one describing his song as “out of the world”.
