Bas Javid, a senior police officer and the brother of former home secretary Sajid Javid, has been selected to lead as the director-general of Immigration Enforcement at the Home Office.

Presently serving as a Deputy Assistant Commissioner within the Metropolitan Police, Mr. Javid has previously held pivotal roles within Avon and Somerset Police as well as West Midlands Police.

Data analysis from the PA news agency, utilizing government figures since January 1, 2018, revealed that nearly 100,000 individuals have arrived in the UK through this route.

RNLI lifeboats were observed bringing dozens of individuals to shore, possibly pushing the total number of arrivals beyond the 100,000 mark.

As per an eyewitness account, more than 40 individuals were brought ashore using two lifeboats, which had responded to a dinghy in the Channel.
