Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. filed “Pantawid Magsasakang Pilipino Act” which aims to provide conditional cash transfer to poor rice farming households

Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. introduced the “Pantawid Magsasakang Pilipino Act,” which seeks to provide conditional cash transfers to underprivileged rice farming households, in order to show his sincere appreciation for farmers and to recognize their struggle to provide food on the tables of all Filipinos.

In accordance with the proposed proposal, eligible low-income rice farming households will receive cash handouts as part of a national effort to combat rural poverty and guarantee food security and sufficiency.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development will choose the program’s recipients after consulting with the Departments of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.

The amount of the cash award will be determined by the number of qualified recipients, the administrative and financial costs associated with administering the grant, and the amount of annual tariff earnings from rice importation that exceed P10 billion.

The DSWD is also required to assist short-term interventions to give temporary work to members of qualifying rice farming households in order to supplement the income of the household beneficiaries who are engaged in rice farming.

Sen. Revilla is confident that when this bill becomes law, the numerous rice farmers who are in charge of ensuring the country’s food security will receive compensation for their outstanding work on behalf of the Filipino people.

Additionally, this bill supports Republic Act No. 11598, popularly known as the “Cash Assistance for Filipino Farmers Act,” which requires the Department of Agriculture to give rice farmers who cultivate no more than 2 hectares of land conditional cash handouts worth P5,000.00.

As an advocate for social justice, Senator Revilla continues to stand out for and support the oppressed groups, including farmers.

He reassures the populace that they have an ally in the Senate, one who will fight for their requirements.

The efforts and sacrifices of Filipino rice farmers will not go forgotten or unrecognized with Sen. Revilla by their side.
