A passenger on an airline is being martyred by sports enthusiasts after he was discovered to be the only person on board who was not watching the Super Bowl.
A photograph taken inside a pitch-black cabin humorously illustrated how everyone on board was captivated by the 38-35 Chiefs victory over Philadelphia.
More than 100 million Americans watched the annual athletic spectacular, which featured Rihanna’s comeback to the halftime concert as an added incentive.
However, one individual had contrary views.
Instead of watching Patrick Mahomes lead the Chiefs to the NFL title, he chose to watch Will Smith guide Kevin James to his true love.
This passenger preferred a rerun of the romantic comedy “Hitch” to the game that the majority of Americans were watching.
It certainly ruffled some feathers.
“The one guy watching Hitch on this airplane ought to be incarcerated. “A social menace,” tweeted Brett Hanfling.
He was dubbed by Barstool Sports as the “biggest try-hard on the planet.”
“This isn’t a guy who decided to watch Hitch last night for the first time; I assume he’s watched the 2005 film previously. This man desired to convey a message. “He wants everyone on the plane to know that he is a superior being because he would never watch the Super Bowl,” the publication exclaimed.
Aside from the fact that this guy is the world’s biggest loser, I suppose I’d like to know why he’s flying what appears to be JetBlue. Surely a person of this quality should be travelling first class, or at least on an airline with a first-class cabin. Attempting to flex from within the cabin of a JetBlue airplane is possibly the best self-own I’ve ever attempted.”
However, some Reddit users were willing to defend the Hitch rebel.
“To be fair, he can watch both Hitch and the Super Bowl at the same time by simply looking at the screen next to him,” wrote one.
“Perhaps they aren’t into sports, I love sports and thought the Super Bowl was a good game, but who am I to judge someone who doesn’t watch it on his screen when he can simply glance at his neighbor’s screen to see the score?” asked another.
“How dare they not enjoy your favorite pastime!” wrote a third.
