A Scottish woman was angry that she could knock on her neighbor’s front door from her bathroom after a new home was constructed 4 feet from her residence.

The new £350,000 residence next door could compel Niki Caira’s family to relocate since it destroyed their “little refuge” and invaded their privacy, according to Caira.

The mother of seven stated that the issue caused her to lose two stones of weight due to stress.

According to Ms. Caira, Fife Council has declined to intervene despite the fact that the new structure was constructed “closer than it should have been.”

Fife Council admitted the distance between the two properties was 4cm closer than it should have been. However it said it would not intervene

Niki Caira (shown above) was enraged when a new property was constructed only inches from her residence. The mother-of-seven stated that the issue caused her to lose two stones.

The council stated that legal action between the parties was the responsibility of the renters.

Ms. Caira told the Record, “We now have zero privacy.” I can’t even sit on my toilet without being concerned that I’ll expose myself or that someone may look in on me or my children.

Simply by opening the window, I can actually reach my next-door neighbor’s home. It is ludicrous.’

In an email to Ms. Caira, Fife Council stated, ‘I can advise you that planning enforcement officers have visited the site and measured the location of the properties currently under construction. As a result, we have determined that the closest property is 4cm closer to the boundary than the approved plans – the approved measurement is 1.3 metres, but the actual measurement is 1.26 metres.

This is well within the tolerance level for the construction of new structures, and we do not intend to take any more enforcement action on this matter.

Pam Ewen, the director of planning for Fife Council, told the Daily Record, “The council is satisfied that the measures taken comply with the applicable planning and construction standards.”

Planning and building requirements have been adhered to throughout this construction.

‘Any boundary disputes are private legal matters to be resolved by the parties involved. There is no connection between land ownership and the granting of planning authority.

The distance between the two homes was 4cm shorter than it should have been, as stated by Fife Council. Nevertheless, it stated it would not intervene.

‘No enforcement action has been taken to date. However, additional areas of concern have been brought to our attention this week, and we are investigating them.’

Nikki, an aesthetician, has lived with her children, husband Mario, and mother Mhairi for the past 16 years.

Niki continued, “We absolutely adored our home, but now every time I look out my windows I only feel anxious. It’s a shame because we were all so pleased living here up to this point.

Former Raith Rovers chairman Alex Penman, whose company is developing the apartments, is now suing Ms. Caira for character defamation.

Mr. Penman alleged that her social media posts caused him pain and embarrassment, as well as a loss of earnings, injuries, and damages totaling £75,000.
