Sassa affirms that the gold payment card is still valid and functioning

Despite an expiration date, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) in Mpumalanga has informed grant recipients that the gold payment card is still valid and active.

The Sassa branch in Mpumalanga issued the following statement on Monday: “The beneficiaries must not panic or succumb to the hijacking by scammers and circulation of fake news that the card will expire in April 2023.”

The gold card is valid at Postbank, ATMs, and a variety of retail establishments.

The agency also invited recipients to disclose their private bank accounts to Sassa as an additional safe and convenient payment option, stating that it will notify any changes in due time.

“The fraudsters who pose as Sassa officials and target senior citizens and people with disabilities in their communities must be reported to the police immediately,” it stated.
