Sunday, DeSantis was scheduled to appear with Zeldin at an event on Long Island. Zeldin’s office stated that he had to cancel due to a “unforeseen tragedy.”

They did not elaborate, but stated that DeSantis will reschedule the event.

According to reports, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis canceled a $25,000-per-plate fundraiser for New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin on Sunday due to a “unexpected tragedy.”

Katie Vincentz, a spokesperson for Zeldin, told the New York Post, “An unanticipated tragedy compelled Governor DeSantis to reschedule his travel to New York.” While we reschedule with Governor DeSantis for a later date, tonight’s fundraiser will continue and is expected to earn around $1 million.

Prior to the Long Island event in Oyster Bay, she did not elaborate on the specifics. DailyMail.com has contacted the office of Zeldin for comment.

Zeldin is challenging New York Governor Kathy Hochul in the general election in November with the support of Donald Trump.

Hochul has intensified her attacks against Republicans and advised some of them to “get back to Florida.”
