Romelu Lukaku’s hamstring is injured again

Milan — Inter Milan announced on Monday that Romelu Lukaku suffered a new hamstring injury less than a week after making his comeback to activity.

Inter stated in a statement that Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku had a hamstring strain in his left thigh, the same muscle that sidelined him for two months.

Lukaku had an issue with the scarring in his hamstring when he was substituted during Saturday’s victory over Sampdoria, and he will miss Inter’s Champions League trip to Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

“He will be re-evaluated towards the end of the week following a few days of relaxation,” Inzaghi told reporters.

The new injury to Lukaku makes it practically probable that he will miss Sunday’s match against fierce rivals Juventus.

Inzaghi added, “It’s a setback we were hoping to avoid, since he was beginning to give us a lot; perhaps we’ll get him back before the break.”

Lukaku had a sensational return on Wednesday when he scored in Inter’s 4-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen that advanced them to the Champions League quarterfinals.

Inter climbed up to fifth place in Serie A with a 3-0 victory against Sampdoria on the weekend, eight points behind league-leading Napoli.
