Roger Taylor (tennis) was the only British member of the so-called Handsome Eight that Lamar Hunt signed in 1968 to compete in his newly founded World Championship Tennis tour. His mother, Lilian, taught him how to play tennis, and he used to play in the parks of Sheffield, such as Weston Park. He frequently practiced by slamming tennis balls against walls.
Bjorn Borg made his Wimbledon debut at age 17.
