Rocks upset Dolphins in rain-interrupted T20 Challenge

Saturday at Potchefstroom, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins suffered a seven wicket DLS Method loss to the Gbets Rocks in a rain-interrupted CSA T20 Challenge match.

As a result of rain in North West Province, The Rocks’ chase was shortened to twelve overs, and they were able to cut the runs when they returned from the break.

The Dolphins batted first because the Rocks won the toss.

The Dolphins lost Jon-Jon Smuts for a duck to the same bowler, Bamanye Xenxe, three balls after Bryce Parsons was caught at cover for eight in the sixth over, ending a partnership of 29 runs.

At the conclusion of the Dolphins’ power play, Roelofsen was on 18 and Tshepang Dithole was at the plate with a single.

Roelfosen reached fifty before Dithole was bowled for 22 off 27 balls, resulting in a partnership of 66 in just over eight overs.

The score was 103 when Khaya Zondo was caught for two in the sixteenth over of the innings. Twelve runs later, Roelofsen was caught in the deep after scoring 66 runs off 48 balls with eight fours and a six.

Roelofsen’s performance propelled him to the top of the competition’s list of run scorers.

Andile Simelane and Eathan Bosch both fell in the final over of the Dolphins’ innings as they concluded their 20-over innings with a score of 136 for seven.

Jason Smith completed the inning with 21 runs unearned on 16 balls.

Bosch bowled Janneman Malan in the first over of the chase for the Dolphins, which resulted in the key dismissal of Malan.

After 27 runs, the Dolphins lost their second player, Valentine Kitime, who was caught from behind by Bosch for his second wicket of the match.

Bosch concluded his three overs with figures of two for seventeen, bringing his tournament total to six wickets and placing him at the top of the wicket takers table.

With the total on 52 in the eighth over of the chase, Cylde Fortuin was the third wicket to fall before the Rocks abandoned the field in the ninth over at 59 for three.

When play resumed following the weather delay, the Rocks’ new aim was 87 runs in twelve overs.

Farhaan Behardien scored 24 and Leus du Plooy 18 not out as the Rocks won with four balls remaining.

Tuesday, the Dolphins will play the Warriors in their fourth CSA T20 Challenge encounter.
