Robert Jenner, a naked carpenter, gets imprisoned for a year

A nudist known as “The Naked Carpenter” was sentenced to a year in prison for entering a police station while wearing a see-through thong and pants that exposed his genitalia.

Just hours after being released from jail for prior exposure offences, Robert Jenner, who has previously achieved attention for his exposing behaviour, was wearing the flimsy, mesh-like clothing.

He was on probation as well as subject to a seven-year criminal behaviour order (CBO) because of his attire.

The 48-year-genitalia old’s were visible to the first police officer the 48-year-old saw, a court heard; but, since she was not wearing her spectacles, she sought confirmation from a colleague.

The former infantryman with the Princess of Wales Regiment who fought in the Iraq War said that he had put on “the first item that came to hand” when asked why he had not just put on “the sort of underwear purchased at Marks and Spencer” that morning.

However, prosecutor Simon Sandford informed the court that it was “very implausible” that he had left jail wearing the transparent attire and that he had to have changed into them before going to the police to request a cell phone.

At his trial, Jenner, who has no permanent residence, said that his freedom to dress whatever he pleases was violated although he denied doing so by arguing that his top covered his genitalia.

But it only took a jury 15 minutes to reject his defence and convict him at Maidstone Crown Court in Kent.

Judge Charles Macdonald QC said the jury “saw through his bag of falsehoods” when he handed down the maximum term today for such a breach offence.

There is a lengthy history of behaviour that is unjustifiably illegal and a continuous danger of criminal and anti-social behaviour, he told Jenner.

“The jurors saw right through all of that narrative of a top covering.

“This is repeated offence demonstrating utter disrespect for the court and the law,” it says.

The former soldier gained notoriety for doing household tasks in his underwear, with the exception of his work boots, in September 2016, earning the nickname “Naked Carpenter.”

In February 2017, he was found not guilty of 11 counts of indecent exposure related to his nude activities at home, despite protests from irate neighbours.

He has now accrued a number of convictions for displaying his genitalia, including while driving a Hermes delivery truck and while parading in transparent shorts at a grocery store.

The ensuing CBO, which went into effect in March 2019, required him to cover his genitalia while in public or when not at a naturist event.

However, Jenner wore the transparent thong and pants to the Maidstone police station in Kent on January 12 of this year.

Detective Constable Melanie Bolt was summoned to the front desk to talk to him after arriving shortly before 5 o’clock, Maidstone Crown Court was told.

She urged him to go with her to a nearby interview room. According to her, his clothes allowed her to view his penis, according to Mr. Sandford.

She requested a coworker to come and check what she could see, but she wore glasses and didn’t have them on.

In response to being asked to stand up, PC Homam Al-Sinawi saw the ex-serviceman was seated behind a desk and that his genitalia “were on display,” according to Mr. Sandford.

The prosecution said, “He could plainly see the defendant’s pants and underwear were both see-through and he could see the defendant’s genitalia.”

It was obvious that the criminal behaviour order had been broken.

“Pants have been cleaned a lot,” he reportedly said after being placed under custody, implying that they had gotten more transparent as a consequence.

Police allegedly put the clothes on a mannequin in order to photograph it for evidence, covering the penis with a piece of brown tape.

Judge Charles Macdonald QC said the jury “saw through his bag of falsehoods” when he handed down the maximum term today for such a breach offence.

The photographs and the clothes were displayed to the jury, and Mr. Sandford argued that “it is evident his genitals were clear through his attire and in violation of the injunction.”

Jenner, who was defending himself in court, disputed that his genitalia were “on exhibit.” He stated that when police requested him to raise his top and “perform a little dance,” they suddenly became apparent.

I wouldn’t have been asked to raise my top if I had been on display, as the cops stated. My genitalia weren’t on display, he said.

When questioned whether being exposed in public gave him a “sexual rush,” he declined to respond in his police interview.

However, Jenner’s defence attorney, Niall Doherty, said that his actions were neither “sinister, puerile, nor sexual.”

According to Mr. Docherty, “He believes in naturism…In his perspective, his behaviour is legitimate and in conformity with his human rights.”

He has no regrets about his actions, but he is just sick to death of the jail system.

He was held in detention for his court case at the time of his arrest in January. As a consequence, he will probably be freed from jail after serving his term. The probation service will issue a one-year monitoring order for him. Additionally, the Criminal Behaviour Order will remain in place.

He allegedly reportedly participated in nude swimming and visited nudist beaches in France, Spain, and Kent’s Isle of Sheppey as a “active” member of the Naturist Society.

After they had reached their unanimous decision, the jury was informed about his history of exposure convictions as well as the fact that he had been released from jail that day.

He was found guilty and given a 12-month prison sentence in February of this year for wandering through Maidstone’s downtown wearing identical see-through pants that exposed his buttocks and genitalia.

He had put on the transparent outfit to visit a local Wetherspoon’s bar for several drinks.

A smiling Jenner merely answered, “Socks,” to the officer’s astonished inquiry about what he was wearing under the pants and introduced himself as “Mr Inappropriate.”

Jenner had just been freed from jail once again, this time for 10 exposure-related offences, when she was taken into custody late one night on January 19, 2020.

Jenner claims to have been a naturist for more than 20 years and to have served in the army for 10 years. Jenner was once from Snodland, Kent, but now has no permanent residence.

He was sentenced to two years in prison in March 2019 after a court heard that while delivering packages, he was wearing jeans with a hole cut out in the crotch area.

He also flaunted his masculinity by wearing transparent shorts while visiting a Kent grocery, a park, and a shopping centre.

A pregnant mother and a 14-year-old schoolgirl were among his victims during a 10-month span. He exposed himself twice when it was snowing.

He was given a 10 month jail term in December of last year for violating the requirements of the sex offender registration.
