Nigerian Goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye Nominated for Best Goalie Award in Israel
Adebayo Adeleye, the talented Nigerian goalkeeper playing for Hapoel Jerusalem, has received a nomination for the prestigious 2023 best goalie award in Israel.
Competing against Adeleye for the coveted title are Omri Glazer from Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Daniel Peretz from Maccabi Tel Aviv, Yoav Gerafi from FC Ashdod, John Cohen from Maccabi Haifa, and Itamar Nitzan from Maccabi Netanya.
Throughout the current season, Adeleye has showcased his skills in 29 matches, managing to keep an impressive 10 clean sheets while conceding 33 goals.
Since joining Hapoel Jerusalem in 2019, Adeleye has made a total of 120 appearances for the team. During this time, he has conceded 114 goals but has also recorded an impressive 51 clean sheets across all competitions.
Recently, the 23-year-old goalkeeper extended his contract with Hapoel Jerusalem for an additional three years.
Adeleye expressed his contentment and stated that he feels a strong sense of belonging with the Israeli club.
He is delighted that they have included him in their long-term plans and strategic vision.
Despite Adeleye’s exceptional performances, he has not been able to guide Hapoel Jerusalem to contention for the Israeli Premier League title.
Currently, Adeleye and his team occupy the 4th spot in Play-Off Group A, with 45 points in 35 games.
They are 25 points behind Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C., who are in third place.
Hapoel Jerusalem’s season has been a mixed bag, with 14 defeats, 9 draws, and 12 wins in their 35 league games thus far.
Their upcoming match is against the league leaders, Maccabi Haifa, scheduled for Saturday, May 20th, with kickoff at 18:30 (6:30 PM WAT).
