According to a rumor, White House chief of staff Ron Klain is slated to depart in the coming weeks.
Since the midterm elections in November, Klain, 61, has reportedly been telling colleagues in secret that he is on his way out, according to an article published by the New York Times on Saturday. Klain has served as chief of staff to President Biden for the past two years.
The publication reported that it is unclear if Klain has chosen a successor or when he would officially announce his impending departure. However, additional information is likely after the State of the Union address next month.
The retirement comes as President Biden faces investigations into secret materials discovered in the Washington, DC office of the Penn Biden Center and at his Wilmington, Delaware residence.
