Release of Three Suspects in AKA’s Murder Investigation Sparks Outrage Among Fans and Critics Alike

The Megacy, a legion of fans devoted to slain rapper AKA, have taken to social media to express their frustration and anger over reports that three out of the four suspects arrested in connection with the rapper’s murder have been released.

According to reports, the suspects were released in the middle of the night on Wednesday, 29 March.

On 10 February, AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot dead in Durban.

On Sunday, it was reported that three men were arrested and taken into custody in Belhar, Cape Town, along with two others.

Annelene van den Heever, the suspects’ advocate, said that the four men were transported from Cape Town to Durban, and three were subsequently released.

One of the suspects will appear at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for carjacking, while the other two are believed to have gone into hiding due to threats on their lives.

Meanwhile, the South African Police Service (SAPS) has maintained that there has been no breakthrough in the investigation into AKA and Tibz’s murder.

KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda has stated that reports on the case are misleading and could potentially jeopardize the investigation and the safety of those who have been arrested, as well as the lives of those who have been portrayed as police officers on social media.

The Megacy has expressed its dissatisfaction with the developments in the case, likening it to the unsolved murder of soccer star Senzo Meyiwa.

Fans have taken to social media to voice their frustration with law enforcement, and in particular, Police Minister Bheki Cele, whom they have labeled “useless” and called for his replacement.

The release of three suspects in AKA’s murder investigation has stirred up a significant amount of controversy and has left many wondering what the next steps in the investigation will be.

It remains to be seen how law enforcement will respond to the criticism they have received from the public and whether there will be any further developments in the case.
