Rapper who was fatally shot by Met police in south London was allegedly ‘unarmed’ and was set to become a parent for the first time, according to pals.

At about 9.51 p.m. yesterday night, Chris Kaba, a 23-year-old rapper better known as Mad Itch and a member of the MOBO-nominated group 67, was shot by police after a pursuit through Kirkstall Gardens in Streatham Hill.

Officers administered first aid at the scene before Mr Kaba was rushed to hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight

Before being taken to the hospital, Mr. Kaba received first assistance from officers at the scene, but he was declared dead soon after midnight.

Today, a sizable police cordon around the location was visited by a sizable gathering of Mr. Kaba’s friends.

He was a decent man, and he was about to become a parent, a pal told MailOnline. His first kid, who is due in November, will be fatherless.

We’re not sure why he was shot,’ Why was he slain by the cops while he had no firearms on him?

I have seen the car’s gunshot hole. He was shot through the driver’s side front glass at close range. He was unable to move since the police had encircled him with their vehicles. How come they shot?

‘As far as I know, he had been playing video games with a buddy,’ the victim said, adding that he had spent the evening hanging out at a friend’s home and was unsure of why armed cops were after him.

He wouldn’t have committed any crimes that would have made the police pursue him. I was aware of his straight nature.

He was about to birth his first kid, according to another guy at the scene. His kid will no longer have a father. It makes me so sad.

He wasn’t involved in gangs or anything like, it was said.

‘The (driver) drove up New Park Road and turned into Kirkstall Gardens,’ a 39-year-old man who lives on New Park Road claimed on condition of anonymity. He was struck by a police cruiser that had just come down Kirkstall Gardens.

He was being held at the base of Kirkstall Gardens by another police vehicle that pulled up behind him. When he was shot, the automobile was still.

The blast was really loud, he continued. I heard it while using my gaming headphones inside my home.

An unidentified resident of Kirkstall Gardens said, “I heard a tremendous blast and then I came outside.” I could see a helicopter and the blue lights from inside. There were several police officers present.

It seemed like someone was on the ground and they were attempting to tend to them. I’ve been living here for over a year, and I’ve never gone through anything like that.

I heard what sounded like one or two gunshots followed by a lot of commotion, according to a second man who lives across the street. The major ruckus was gone relatively shortly once I noticed several police cruisers.

Residents of Streatham Hill said that cops gave the man CPR after shooting him.

‘The IOPC has initiated an independent inquiry after an incident involving armed officers from the Metropolitan Police in Lambeth, south London, yesterday night,’ according to a statement from the IOPC.

At this early stage, it is thought that a man was shot and killed by police officers as they responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle.

‘We received notification of the event from the MPS immediately after 11 p.m., and we announced the launch of an independent inquiry just before midnight.

Investigators from the IOPC were sent to the event site and the post-incident procedures to begin collecting evidence.

“All of those impacted by this tragic occurrence are in our thoughts and prayers,” the statement reads. We are still very early in our study.

A representative for the Met stated: “Specialist weapons officers were pursuing a suspicious car in the Lambeth area around 9:51 p.m. on Monday, 5 September.”

After making tactical contact, the car was halted near Kirkstall Gardens on Streatham Hill. A police weapon was fired.

“A gunshot wound was inflicted by an occupant of the suspect car, a male thought to be in his 20s.”

The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance were called, according to the Met statement. Prior to their arrival, officers provided first assistance, and after being transported to a hospital, the guy passed away at 12.16 in the morning.

To inform his next of kin, inquiries are still being made. There are road restrictions and cordons in place.

As per policy, the Independent Office for Police Conduct was alerted and an independent investigation has been started. The Independent Office for Police Conduct was contacted by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.

“Investigations into the specific circumstances are underway.”

It follows the early-morning Sunday shooting death of a man in High Street Kensington.

Maximillian Kusi-Owusu, a drill rapper known as M Lo, was shot at approximately 2 a.m. on Sunday. He received first assistance from responding cops, but at 5.32 a.m. he was declared dead.

The rapper, who has been called “very skilled” and “dynamic,” received tributes.

A guy was detained in relation to the shooting but was recently freed on bail.
