Randwick trainer John Sargent aims to claim winning double at Hawkesbury

On Tuesday afternoon, Randwick trainer John Sargent will aim to claim a winning double at Hawkesbury.

Sargent’s stable was successful with Miss Faberge and The Seven Seas at Goulburn last Thursday and hopes to repeat the feat with Mountain Guest and Casual Connection in successive events.

Mountain Guest, who will run in the first race, will have plenty of upside after two runs from a spell, and had no luck at a crucial stage last time.

In the following race, Casual Connection will step up from 1600m to 2000m, and with jockey Keagan Latham, is expected to be rattling home late.

In the third race, although short in the market, Barmera, trained by Gerald Ryan/Sterling Alexiou stable, should be the clear winner.

I Say Boom, a half-brother to mighty grey Chautauqua, trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, is an interesting runner in the opening event.

He had a sprinkling of support when resuming at Gosford, hitting the line hard for a close-up fourth.

The last race of the day is as open as Sydney heads, and topweight Anythink Goes should prove hard to beat.

The Matthew Smith stable had enough of an opinion of the gelding to run him in last year’s Qld Derby.

Dubbo galloper Transplant has been supported from $15 into $8.50 for the race.

Supplied by Racing NSW, full form and race replays are available at racingnsw.com.au.
