Randle thinks the present Knicks team has more talent compared to the one from two years ago

There are similarities and differences between this season’s Knicks and the team from two years ago. Both teams started the season with low expectations and overcame tough times to have unexpectedly strong regular seasons.

However, Julius Randle believes that the current team is stronger and more gifted than the previous one. This season’s Knicks have a better record than the 2020-21 team and are only one game behind the Cavs for fourth place.

One major difference between the two teams is that this year’s Knicks are younger and have more potential. For example, Jalen Brunson plays point guard for the current team, which is an advantage over two years ago when Elfrid Payton started, and Derrick Rose came off the bench.

Additionally, Mitchell Robinson is healthy this season, and RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley have improved. The current Knicks have a higher offensive rating and a lower defensive rating than the 2019-20 team.

The question of whether this year’s Knicks can outperform their predecessors in the playoffs remains to be answered. Randle doesn’t want to comment on this matter until the team is actually in the playoffs.

The Knicks’ recent successes include Randle being named Eastern Conference Player of the Week and Robinson logging a career-high 44 minutes against the Celtics. Robinson has been a valuable contributor to the team’s success, with a record of 27-17 when he’s on the court.
