Rage Against The Machine cancels Reading and Leeds headlining

Fans are angry when Rage Against The Machine announced they would not play at the Reading Festival.

The band announced that they will not be attending the event as scheduled since they had postponed their 2022 European tour dates due to medical advice. This includes their scheduled appearance at the Leeds Festival. Rage Against The Machine, widely known for their songs ‘Killing in the Name’ and ‘Bulls on Parade,’ were scheduled to perform at Reading with The Arctic Monkeys, Dave, and Halsey.The rock group posted the news online, apologising to fans and saying lead singer Zack de la Rocha would need time to recover from an unspecified medical condition

The rock band will be replaced at the event at the end of August by pop band The 1975.

Zack de la Rocha, the group’s lead vocalist, has said that he would recuperate at home following the group’s performance at Madison Square Garden in New York on August 14.

Fans have voiced their dissatisfaction at the cancellation of the Reading Festival, with some requesting a refund.

‘Replacing Rage Against The Machine with 1975 is like switching Slayer with S Club 7.’ commented one on Twitter.

Another speculated that due of the revelation, a big number of festival tickets will be returned, stating, ‘There will be hundreds for sale from disgruntled RATM fans.’

‘Boooooo,’ one fan said, expressing their displeasure.

Following the band’s cancellation, a festivalgoer requested a refund through Ticketmaster. ‘I have a Sunday ticket to Reading Festival and would want to get a refund since Rage Against The Machine has cancelled and will not be appearing,’ they added. I’d appreciate some assistance.’ A Twitter user questioned the announcement, saying, ‘Has there ever been a worse lineup than this year’s?’

‘Ticketmaster,’ another inquired. I’m attempting to get a refund for Reading Festival since I have a day ticket for Sunday and Rage Against The Machine has cancelled. Could you please assist me?’

There were scores of additional refund requests online, with some fans offering to give their tickets away for free.

Ticketmaster reacted to Twitter users by inviting them to contact them via direct messaging. It is unknown if the event or any ticket firm gave refunds.

Rage Against The Machine stated online that they will cancel their upcoming shows following this weekend.

‘Per medical advice, Zack de la Rocha has been warned that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of the Rage Against the Machine tour cannot proceed,’ the band announced in a statement. This cancellation comes as a huge disappointment to us.

‘Rage Against the Machine’ will wrap up their stint at Madison Square Garden on August 11, 12, and 14, and Zack will be forced to return home for rest and recovery.

‘The flights, travel time, and strict schedule in the UK and Europe are just too risky for a full recovery.’

‘We sincerely apologize to all of our fans who have waited years to see us and hope to Rage again soon.’

‘For refunds to any headlining concerts, please contact your place of purchase.’
