DETROIT — Since his comeback from weeks of injury concern, Quentin Grimes has not been immune to the Knicks’ 3-point shooting doldrums as a club.

The Knicks defeated the Pistons 140-110 on Tuesday night, with the second-year guard scoring a season-high 16 points on three-of-four three-point attempts and a total of three long-distance baskets.

After the game, Tom Thibodeau stated, “I believe he is beginning to rediscover his offensive rhythm.”

Grimes earned his sixth consecutive start despite suffering from a foot issue since training camp. Prior to Sunday’s defeat to the Grizzlies, he missed 20 of his first 26 attempts from beyond the arc this season. As a rookie, he made 38.1% of his three-point attempts.

“My jump shot relies heavily on my legs, but I am aware of the work I have put in. Grimes remarked before the game, “It’ll come around.” “I’ve only played four or five games at full game pace for over thirty minutes. Therefore, I am certain that will occur. Just must keep getting my legs beneath me.”

Thibodeau cleared the bench during the rout, but former starter Evan Fournier, who is earning $18 million this season, did not play for the ninth consecutive game.

“Except for difficult, there is nothing more to say,” remarked Fournier. “Trying to perform my work, be supportive, and be a good teammate. “That’s all.”

Immanuel Quickley was doubtful to play on Sunday against Memphis due to a sore knee, but he scored 15 points in 21 minutes of action.

Derrick Rose stated that the toe injury that caused him to miss two games last week occurred prior to the November 20 game in Phoenix that he left at halftime.

Rose, who returned to the rotation Sunday against Memphis and played 12 minutes, stated that the injury was “a toenail issue” and that he is “approaching the end of it now.” Five points were scored in a season-high 25 minutes of play.

The Knicks dismissed forward Feron Hunt and signed forward DaQuan Jeffries to a two-way contract. Jeffries has participated in the Knicks’ training camp and has been playing for their Westchester G-League club.
