Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA) publishes its three-year strategy

To ensure that the Code works to rebalance the tied pub industry, the Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA) has released its strategy for achieving its priorities over the next three years. In the strategy, the PCA outlines its short-, medium-, and long-term goals as well as what success will look like.

35 in-depth interviews with sector stakeholders were held in April and May of this year in order to construct this plan. Along with the results of the most recent PCA staff seminars and yearly tied tenant survey, these inputs were taken into account.

The plan encourages deeper industry-wide collaboration in order to identify problems, find solutions, and enhance awareness of how the Code can assist tied tenants.

In order to provide a top-notch arbitration service, the PCA will also keep improving its strategy as a professional regulator and collaborate with its partner in arbitration services, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Pubs Code Adjudicator, Fiona Dickie, said:

“I am pleased to introduce the PCA’s first ever strategy at a time of significant challenge for the industry. I am committed to achieving positive change for tied tenants and we are already seeing progress. We can achieve even more by collaborating with others and this will underpin the PCA’s work over the coming year.

“I would like to thank Glow Innovation for helping us undertake this valuable work, as well as everyone who has contributed their views. I now look forward to discussing the initiatives set out in our strategy.”
