Doubts over Election Outcome
Prince Maurice Mbam, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, raised concerns about the results of the 2023 governorship election.
He boldly stated that his party did not emerge as the winner and expressed his willingness to testify to this fact before the tribunal in Abuja.
Mbam further expressed his belief that Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State is the rightful winner of the election.
Appeal for Respect and Support
Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, Mbam called on opposition parties to respect the election results.
He appealed to them to allow the governor to focus on his duties and fulfill the campaign promises made to the people of Ebonyi State.
Mbam acknowledged the new appointments made by the governor and highlighted that the state has moved forward.
He emphasized the need for the opposition to give the governor the space to govern effectively, especially considering his extensive experience as a former Speaker.
Support for the Governor’s Initiatives
Mbam highlighted some of the proactive measures taken by Governor Nwifuru, such as the release of the wife of an INEC staff who was recently kidnapped by hoodlums.
He urged the sons and daughters of Izzi Land to rally behind the governor and provide him with maximum support.
Mbam commended the governor for his inclusivity in the appointment of 35 commissioners, ensuring that all 13 local government areas were represented in the cabinet.
He encouraged everyone to give the young governor the opportunity to showcase his capabilities and prove his commitment to good governance.
Impending Transition to APC
In a surprising revelation, Mbam hinted at his upcoming transition to the All Progressives Congress (APC) family.
He expressed his readiness to testify that the PDP lost the election and acknowledged that the matter is currently before the tribunal.
Mbam’s statements indicate his doubts about the election results and his intention to support Governor Nwifuru’s administration.
