Prominent Dignitaries Pay Tribute to Late FCMB Founder, Subomi Balogun

A night of tributes was organized on Tuesday to honor the late Subomi Balogun, founder of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Group, and was attended by top Nigerian dignitaries.

The event took place at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos and saw the presence of notable figures such as industrialist Rasaq Okoya and his wife Shade, businessman Tony Elumelu and his wife Awele, as well as former Ogun State governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The burial of Subomi Balogun is scheduled for July 8, and his passing occurred at the age of 89 in London, United Kingdom, on May 18.

As part of the funeral arrangements, a service of songs will be held on Wednesday, July 5, at 3:30 pm, followed by a wake at 5 pm. Both events will take place at Harbour Point in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Subomi Balogun held the position of ‘olori ebi’ and was the head of all the princes at the Arojojoye Ruling House in Ijebu Ode.

Throughout his lifetime, he held numerous prestigious traditional and cultural titles, including Otunba Tunwase, the Olori Omo-Oba of Ijebu, Asiwaju of Ijebu Christians, Baba Oba of Ijebu-Ife, Asalu-Oba of Ijebu Mushin, and many others.

The night of tributes served as a platform for friends, family, and dignitaries to honor his remarkable legacy.
