He described the AUDA-NEPAD CEO as an embodiment of peace who has demonstrated her peaceful disposition through her work in the Agency and her life style as a peacemaker.

Says UPF recognises as Ambassadors for Peace those whose lives exemplify living for others and who promote universal moral values, strong family life, interreligious cooperation, international harmony, renewal of the United Nations, a responsible public media, and establishment of a culture of peace transcending racial, national, and religious boundaries.

He stated : Ambassadors for peace help fulfil the dream of all ages, an united world of peace where spiritual and material dimensions of existence are balanced, and Princess Gloria Akobundu fits this description.

Princess Gloria Akobundu fsi, NC/CEO of AUDA-NEPAD, thanked the organisation for recognising her and called on Nigerians to embrace peace as they seek further development in the nation, especially as the Nation prepares for the 2023 general elections.

According to her, “there would be no growth without peace, no nation without peace, war in any form is not good, peace is extremely essential to us, and so is a peaceful election and transition from one democratic administration to another.”

It’s crucial for Nigeria’s economy, development, and youth. “Peace is better.” Akobundu highlighted.

Akobundu said the world lacks peace and security and urged everyone to be an ambassador of peace and support efforts to promote and preserve peace in the country and the globe.

Akobundu recalled some AUDA-NEPAD programmes and activities to promote peace and security in the country, such as a Zonal Sensitization exercise on peaceful elections across the six geo-political zones of the country, several security summits under the AU Agenda “Silencing the Gun” to advocate for peace and security, and summits on herders vs farmers crisis.

Akobundu suggested that AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria would continue to promote peace and security in the nation and will shortly begin electoral sensitization to encourage peaceful elections.

The CEO of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria stated lack of peace had depleted people and natural resources.

She urged for tolerance and understanding among Nigerians and people worldwide, characterising peace as a cornerstone to a nation’s success.

Lack of effective governance, Climate Change, Youth Unrest, COVID-19 Pandemic, and lack of tolerance and understanding have contributed to international peace.

She stated she’ll continue to promote peace and tolerance with the Ambassador of Peace honour.

Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Federal High Commissioner for Refugees, Migrants and IDPs, said the prize was well-deserved.

She remembered Princess Gloria Akobundu fsi’s local, national, and worldwide peace initiatives and political journey, calling the prize a nice recompense for all her peace endeavour.
