In declaring victory in the 2020 presidential election, former President Donald Trump appears to have followed the counsel of his ‘inebriated’ personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani rather than his professional advisers.

The account was revealed during the House Select Committee’s second public hearing into the January 6 Capitol incident on Monday.

‘On election night, President Trump rejected the advice of his campaign experts and instead followed the course recommended by an apparently inebriated Rudy Giuliani to just claim he won and insist that the vote counting stop to falsely claim everything was fraudulent,’ Committee vice chair Rep Liz Cheney said in her opening statement.
