President Tinubu Urges Unified Efforts to Address Nigeria’s Security Challenges
President Bola Tinubu has instructed the newly appointed security chiefs to collaborate and tackle the security challenges facing Nigeria.
This directive was given during his first meeting with the security chiefs since their appointment on June 19.
Led by the national security adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, the security chiefs, including the chief of defence staff, chief of army staff, chief of naval staff, chief of air staff, and the acting inspector general of police, attended the meeting.
Following the meeting, Ribadu addressed the press, stating that the president assured the security chiefs of his full support as they carry out their responsibilities.
Tinubu emphasized the need for the security chiefs to deliver on their mandate of addressing the country’s security challenges.
“We’re here to thank Mr President for the opportunity he gave us to serve our country and his own government,” Ribadu said.
“We also pledged our loyalty to him, Nigeria, and Nigerians.
We believe the choice he made is the right one, the correct one, and we know what he wants for this country.
We’re going to work tirelessly to ensure that we accomplish the objective of securing our country, establishing peace, stability, and regaining normalcy.”
Ribadu highlighted the improving security situation in the country, expressing confidence that the security chiefs would secure the nation.
He stated that crime rates and the activities of criminals were decreasing and would continue to do so.
He reassured Nigerians of the capability and dedication of the appointed security chiefs, emphasizing that they were among the best the country had to offer.
Ribadu concluded, “They are not going to fail you; they’ll certainly deliver.”
With President Tinubu’s call for unity and the commitment of the security chiefs, there is hope for improved security in Nigeria as the nation faces its current challenges.
