President Ramaphosa will attend Lesotho PM inauguration

This morning in Maseru, President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to attend the inauguration of newly elected Lesotho Prime Minister Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane.
Matekane was elected as a result of early October elections in the landlocked nation, in which he won 56 of 79 constituencies.
“President Ramaphosa is present at the request of King Letsie III.”
“President Ramaphosa’s visit demonstrates South Africa’s ongoing support for the Basotho, as well as the strong ties and friendship between the two nations,” the Presidency said in a statement.
The Presidency praised the thirty-year-old official diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“Relationships between the two nations are founded on a shared history, language, and culture. In 1992, the two nations established full diplomatic relations. “The Kingdom of Lesotho provided refuge and support to South African liberation revolutionaries in their battle against apartheid,” the statement added.
