President Buhari hosts Ekiti Gov-Elect to celebrate his electoral victory

President Muhammadu Buhari hosted Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, in audience at State House, Abuja, on Monday, to celebrate his electoral victory.

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Governors Kayode Fayemi, Atiku Bagudu, and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Ekiti, Kebbi, and Jigawa, respectively, led the newly elected Governor to the ceremony.

President Buhari said he watched the votes closely on Saturday, June 18, and was impressed by the peaceful conduct and the conduct of the voters and security personnel.

“I loved how the APC Governors mobilized, and supported you,” the President told Oyebanji. “I think the party is very lucky, and things are getting better. I congratulate the Chairman, and I pray you sustain it.”

Senator Adamu credited God with the election win and promised that the same would happen in Osun State next month.

In his capacity as Chairman of the Campaign Council for Ekiti, Gov Badaru congratulated President Buhari on the successful outing, saying; “Your unending effort to reposition the party is paying off. If we combine the votes of the candidates that came second and third, our candidate still beat them by a wide margin. APC is being daily endeared to Nigerians. Our gratitude goes to you, Mr President.”

While thanking the President, the Governor-elect stated that the election was a referendum on the party, as well as a “clear, positive signal” to the Osun election and the national election next year. APC is still the party of choice.”

President Buhari had previously counseled Oyebanji to be magnanimous in victory, and Oyebanji thanked him for his “leadership and the level playing field you provided.”
