Powerball jackpot: One fortunate bettor might walk away with $40 million

Following Thursday night’s Powerball jackpot, one fortunate bettor might walk away with $40 million.

Those who play the lottery in hopes of winning must have all seven winning numbers in addition to the Powerball.

At 8:30 p.m. tonight, Channel 7 will air the division one $40 million draw (AEST).

The organizers have provided some advice on how to improve your chances of winning, including the luckiest numbers.

For the main barrel, the most frequently drawn winning numbers are 17, 7, 2, 9 and 25. 31, 6, 33, 15 and 34 are the least frequently selected numbers.

The most frequently drawn numbers for the separate Powerball barrel are 19 and 3, while the least frequently drawn numbers are 18 and 16.

According to Matt Hart, a spokesman for the Lottery, “six Powerball division one winning entries have been purchased so far in 2022, totaling more than $226.6 million.”

In addition to the three victories in New South Wales, there was one triumph each in Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia.

“Two-thirds of those winning entries were QuickPick, where the numbers are selected for you when you buy a ticket by machine.”

Syndicates, of which one-third of Division One winners were a part, had a successful year, according to Mr. Hart.

The one-of-a-kind Powerhit entry, which ensure that one of your numbers is the crucial Powerball, also accounted for a third of the 2022 wins.

14 Powerball players from across the nation won more than $550 million in prizes last year.

Seven of the winners were from New South Wales, four from Queensland, two from Victoria, and one from Western Australia.

Last month’s $80 million Powerball jackpot was split between two players, one from St Albans in Melbourne and the other from New South Wales, who each received $40 million.

The woman described her disbelief at receiving the enormous award.

‘I’m still shocked. I’ve barely slept since I discovered the win,’ she told The Lott.

‘It’s hard to put the feeling of knowing you’ve won $40 million into words. I don’t think it’s truly hit me yet.’

She revealed that her ticket had actually been a gift and she hadn’t immediately checked the numbers before they were called out.

‘When I did check it though, I immediately called out to my family and they were just as shocked as I was,’ she said.

‘There were definitely plenty of cheers and tears!’

Entry deadline for tonight’s Powerball is 7:30 p.m.

Following the draw, the complete Powerball lottery results will be posted on the official Powerball website.
