Potanin Foundation has a new interim manager

The Potanin Foundation, a grant-making organisation founded in 2006, has assisted not only other charities but also its sister organisation, the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, in Russia. Its charitable goals are very broad.

The Potanin Foundation’s founder and member, Vladimir Potanin, was subject to sanctions under the UK’s Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 when the Commission launched a statutory investigation into the organisation on June 29, 2022.

On July 12, 2022, Guy Hollander of Mazars LLP was chosen as the charity’s interim manager as part of the investigation.

He has assumed responsibility for the charity’s management and administration and will carry out a variety of duties, such as keeping track of the organization’s assets and determining its long-term viability.

The Commission’s investigation is still ongoing. After an investigation is complete, the Commission has a policy of publishing a report.

Attention Editors

The independent, non-ministerial government agency responsible for registering and overseeing charities in England and Wales is known as the Charity Commission.

In order for people to improve lives and strengthen society, it serves to ensure that charity can flourish and inspire trust.

The registration of charities contains information about the charity.

The Commission has the authority to name an interim manager to a charity to serve as receiver and manager in respect of the property and affairs of the charity under Section 76(3)(g) of the Charities Act of 2011.

In accordance with Regulation 64 of the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, OFSI issued General Licence INT/2022/1834876 on May 30, 2022, allowing trustees and interim managers chosen by the Commission to act as receivers and managers of a charity’s assets and business affairs.

When the Commission discovers wrongdoing or poor management in the management of a charity, or when it is necessary to safeguard the assets of a charity, interim managers are appointed. It serves as a temporary safeguard.
