Following an event that was documented in a video clip that is going viral on social media, the administration of the South African Police Service (SAPS) has launched a departmental inquiry into the behavior of a police constable.
According to early accounts, the member of the police’s Rapid Railway Unit (RRU) arrived for duty on Saturday morning, 1 October 2022, while intoxicated, according to national SAPS spokesman Colonel Athlenda Mathe.
According to Mathe, the hearing will follow the SAPS 2016 Disciplinary Regulations. She said that based on the constable’s health, the commander promptly booked him off of duty.
The participant was likewise promptly disarmed and told to go home.
