Police: Two firefighters died in a house fire; their bodies were discovered outside

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, two firefighters perished while responding to a house fire where a body was discovered, but two occupants escaped unharmed.

Trooper David Beohm identified the deceased firefighters as members of the New Tripoli Fire Company, Assistant Fire Chief Zachary Paris, 36, and Marvin Gruber, 59.

The body of another individual was located outside the residence, which is situated on a big tract of land in West Penn Township, Schuylkill County, near Tamaqua.

There’s a body in the rear, and that’s still relevant to the investigation,” said Boem.

Two occupants of the three-story single-family residence in West Penn Township were able to escape the fire, according to Police Chief James Bonner. He reported that two additional firefighters were injured.

They reported that more than one hundred firefighters and officers responded just before 4:00 p.m. Bonner described it as an active crime scene, with the Pennsylvania State Police and the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms department assisting in the investigation.
