Police shot rubber bullets at Tarek Zahed’s car before arresting him

Comanchero bikie Tarek Zahed was violently taken into custody by heavily armed police in Sydney on Sunday as they shot rubber bullets into his vehicle before hauling him out.

In Edgecliff, in Sydney’s east, officers in tactical gear assaulted a busy road and detained the national sergeant-at-arms of the illegal motorcycle group.

Three months after being shot ten times in a gangland attack that killed his brother, Zahed, 42, was arrested for his suspected role in a 2014 underworld murder.

His black BMW was struck by a number of rubber bullets, leaving numerous sizable holes in the partly broken rear windows.

Zahed was seized and then transferred to the Surry Hills police station, according to a NSW Police spokeswoman.

The death of Youssef Assoum, who was discovered bleeding to death in southwest Sydney just 50 metres from a hospital, is believed to be connected to his detention.

A doctor who was not on duty found Assoum, 29, with several knife wounds to the skull and a gunshot wound in his right thigh.

Despite the doctor’s best efforts, Assoum passed away from his injuries in the hospital.

A 42-year-old male was detained by police in Edgecliff shortly before 5 o’clock on Sunday, according to a NSW Police spokeswoman.

A 42-year-old male was detained by Tactical Operations Unit police during a traffic stop on New South Head Road in Edgecliff at about 4.50 p.m. today (Sunday), according to the spokesperson.

He was brought to the Surry Hills Police Station.

At a gym in western Sydney in May, Zahed and his brother Omar were both shot, but Zahed miraculously survived.

Last Sunday, Comanchero national president Allan Meehan shared a selfie in a Melbourne restaurant with the underworld figure and two other colleagues, who were all wearing fancy attire and jewellery.

Welcome back Tarek “hard2kill” Zahed,” Meehan said in the description of the Instagram image.

In May, a masked shooter invaded the Bodyfit Gym in Sydney’s Auburn and shot inside the gym more than 20 times.

Zahed, popularly known as the “Balenciaga Bikie,” was shot in the head and torso and brought into surgery while still in serious condition. One of the bullets went directly through Zahed’s eye.

Omar, 39, passed away there.

Following much debate about whether he would need limb amputation, doctors were astounded by his quick recovery, which led to his departure from the hospital less than two months after being in.

The bikie hard guy in the picture had been shot 10 times, yet there were no obvious scars on his face.

He had previously had diminished vision in his left eye, but according to a source, he has now entirely lost sight in his right eye, making him almost blind.

The insider said, “He had an event years ago that means vision in his left eye is only 20 to 30%.”

He will thus be almost unable to see due to the fact that he is probably now blind in his right eye.

Zahed is said to have been hiding out in Melbourne ever since he was discharged from the hospital in July.

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty, the commander of the homicide squad, said at the time that police were looking into potential assassination attempt reasons while being open to the possibility of an inside job.

He told reporters, “We can’t disregard an internal disagreement.”

There are possibilities for others to take their position, and organised criminal organisations are engaged in a serious power battle.
