Police in New York City said a bodega patron was stabbed

Sunday morning, a Staten Island bodega customer was stabbed in the stomach by a group of adolescents who attempted to rob him, according to police.

Eight teens, two of whom were females, attempted to rob the 41-year-old victim shortly after midnight at the store located at 202 Simonson Avenue in Mariners Harbor, according to police. One of the attackers stabbed the victim in the stomach. The adolescents thereafter fled on foot.

The victim was transported in stable condition to the Richmond University Medical Center.

There is an N.M. Grocery & Deli at the given address. The convenience store did not immediately return a phone message.

According to police, nothing was stolen from the victim.
