Police identify loft corpse as Leah Croucher three years after her disappearance

Three years after the adolescent went missing, police have now officially verified that Leah Croucher’s bones, which were discovered in a loft in Milton Keynes, belong to her.

The cause of Leah’s death has not been determined, according to a Home Office post-mortem that was performed last week, but investigations are still ongoing, according to Thames Valley police.

On October 10, when police discovered human remains and Leah’s possessions, including a backpack, in the loft of 2 Loxbeare Drive, Furzton in Milton Keynes, they opened a murder inquiry.

On October 14, Thames Valley Police said that Neil Maxwell, a dead man, was their main suspect.

The Head of the Major Crime Unit, Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown, stated: “The thoughts of all of us at Thames Valley Police are with Leah’s family and friends and will always be with them.”

They remain in the forefront of our thoughts throughout the whole investigation, and they continue to get assistance from highly trained cops and updates on every step.

We can now publicly certify that the corpse discovered in Loxbeare Drive last week is that of Leah after a challenging procedure.

The family and friends of Leah have endured unfathomable loss and shock, and they have done so with grace, dignity, and a great deal of bravery throughout the last three years and eight months while we continued to look for Leah.

They have always supported Thames Valley Police, both throughout the lengthy missing person investigation we conducted and during the current investigation into Leah’s murder.

“Please respect their privacy at this time, which is so terrible and sad for them all,” we beg once again on their behalf.

We owe it to Leah’s family to make sure we uncover the truth, therefore we won’t stop looking into Leah’s murder.

“We are completely dedicated to doing so, so that they may comprehend what happened with Leah.”
