Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has appealed for calm following the recent attack on the Farinlamba Turu community in Jos South Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr. Makut Macham, on Thursday, the governor described the attack, which resulted in the deaths of at least six artisanal miners, as callous, condemnable, and unfortunate.

He assured the families of the victims that the government was determined to ensure that those responsible for the attack were apprehended and brought to justice.

The community was attacked on April 25, where six people were reportedly killed at a mining spot.

Governor Lalong stated that security agencies were already working to bring the attackers to justice and described the loss of life and property as sad.

He also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.

The governor emphasized that the government was determined to maintain the peace and security that had been restored to the state and that those who took joy in causing pain to innocent citizens would be dealt with.

He stated, “No one will be allowed to reverse the gains made in restoring peace and security to the state.”

In addition, the governor expressed shock and sorrow over the unfortunate accident involving a fuel tanker that exploded along Bauchi Road in Jos, resulting in deaths, injuries, and property damage.

The governor’s statement shows his commitment to maintaining peace and security in Plateau State and bringing those responsible for violent attacks to justice.

The government’s efforts to maintain stability in the state have contributed to an increase in economic activity and the attraction of investments, making Plateau State a more attractive destination for business and tourism.
