Peter Dutton offers Richard Marles artificial tan for Christmas

Peter Dutton sent his political adversary a bottle of fake tan for Christmas as a playful dig at him.

Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles received a bottle of Bondi Sands tanning lotion from the Liberal leader on Friday morning as the two swapped presents live on the Today program.

Richard is from Geelong, a beautiful but not very sunny corner of the globe, but yet Richard manages to have a gorgeous tan all year long, Mr. Dutton remarked from Parliament House.

So, I gave him enough tanning spray for the next year.

‘My office was able to obtain it, but I’m not sure I understand it. You seem to know more about this than I do.

In response, Mr. Marles called Mr. Dutton “a horrible guy” and offered the opposition leader a gift of his own that had a not-so-subtle message.

Peter needs assistance, so I have given him a lightsaber that he may use to attack the prime minister during question time, he added.

Mr Dutton joked his present would supply Mr Marles with fake tan for the next year

Co-anchor of the Today Show and departing host Ally Langdon described their bond as “strange but somewhat lovely.”

When the two candidates were in the US, Mr. Dutton said in July that he attended Mr. Marles’ 55th birthday celebration in Washington.

In front of a Kmart Salvos Wishing Tree, one of Australia’s biggest and longest-running gift collecting programs, the lawmakers exchanged presents on Friday.
