Penny Ackery slams fake Greens election poster at graveside ahead of 2022 Elecions

Fake election posters have been placed at the cemetery where an Independent candidate recently buried her husband.

A Greens party insignia has been added to the doctored posters of Penny Ackery, Independent candidate for the NSW electorate of Hume.

Ackery, who lost her husband John Steel to cancer last month, voiced her disgust on Twitter at the heartless election dirty trick.

The NSW electorates of Mackellar, Warringah, and Hughes were among those targeted by the anti-independent campaign, which labeled them Greens candidates.

Zali Steggall, Sophie Scamps, and Georgia Steele, all independents, had fabricated photographs of themselves with the Greens party insignia appear in their neighborhoods overnight.

Election legislation requires election propaganda to include an authorised message, which is missing from these posters, some of which were discovered attached to official candidate signs.
