Pembrokeshire boy, 4, found dead after playing in sandpit

An inquest heard today that a four-year-old kid was discovered dead in a pond after going missing while playing in a sandbox close to his house.

According to reports, Ifan Wedros Owen-Jones, an autistic boy from Crymych, Pembrokeshire, was a “happy and healthy youngster” who had been “enjoying life to the full.”

On August 7, his relatives inquired about his whereabouts and phoned emergency services to his residence.

The child’s corpse was found in a pond that night after a search of the property, and he was pronounced dead shortly after.

A fundraising website has already been established to help with the boy’s funeral expenses. In the last 10 days, it has already raised £6,455.

He liked fire engines and the colour blue. He had two older brothers and one younger brother who adored him, according to Catrin Cox, the creator of the GoFundMe campaign.

When their kid “was in a horrific accident and lost his life,” it was said that Sian and Wedros’ lives were “changed forever.”

In response to the funds donated so far, the family thanked everyone for their assistance and said that they are “eternally grateful” for it.

At around 5.30 p.m. on that Sunday, paramedics were sent to the home and the police were informed, according to an inquest at Haverfordwest County Hall.

It was determined that Ifan had been heard playing in a sand hole next to the family house, according to coroner’s officer Hayley Rogers.

Ifan was not immediately visible, therefore a search of the property was conducted. He was later discovered unconscious in a natural pond.

Despite all attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m.

Police have started a thorough investigation and are still asking questions.

The hearing was postponed to a later time that has not yet been determined by Coroner Gareth Lewis.
