Peloton’s Tunde Oyeneyin dropped and maintained 70 pounds. She claims her mindset changed everything

Tunde Oyeneyin, a prominent Peloton teacher, stated that she had struggled with her weight but was able to shed 70 pounds by focusing on self-improvement.

“My journey has been more about what I’ve gained than what I’ve lost,” she told Insider. “I have developed self-assurance and an appreciation of my power.”

In eighth grade, Oyeneyin was asked to be a bridesmaid at her cousin’s wedding, but her mother had to sew two dresses together so that she could wear one.

“That’s when I realized I had to make a difference,” she added.

She began a workout regimen and developed the mindset and behaviors necessary to lose weight and keep it off, focusing on consistency, body awareness, and healthy eating.

Consistency maintained her motivation.

In Oyeneyin’s perspective, you cannot make headway with physical changes until you also address any mental impediments in the path of your goals.

“In many of my classes, I emphasize that the mind is the strongest muscle, and it’s all about changing your perspective,” she added.

While exercising your body, you must also engage your mind.

People frequently ask her how she stays motivated, and her response is that continually showing up and devoting yourself to her goals is a part of her success-promoting mentality.

The particular mental alterations required can differ from person to person, depending on their history, approach, and objectives.

She stated, “I don’t believe there is necessarily a formula or one size fits all.”

Morning workouts and adequate protein intake keep her on track.

Oyeneyin attributed a portion of her success and consistency to a strong regimen, such as working out each morning at the same time.

She stated, “I’m a creature of habit.”

She also follows her workouts with healthy recovery practices, such as consuming a protein shake or smoothie rich in nutrients to promote muscle health.

She schedules ahead for pre-workout snacks to match that day’s exercise, be it weightlifting or endurance training, in order to acquire enough protein, carbohydrates, and good fats as fuel.

Oyeneyin stated that she maintains optimal nutrition by combining healthy and delicious foods in recipes such as protein pancakes.

However, she does not force exercise if it does not feel natural.

While determination is essential to make progress, Oyeneyin emphasized the need of allowing herself the flexibility and grace to alter her goals when necessary. For instance, she maintains a sustainable fitness regimen by adapting it to her body’s needs.

“If I had planned a long run and my body screamed, ‘No, girl, no,’ I might do a lifting session or just dance around the house,” she added. “I must listen to my body in order to understand how it performs optimally.”
