Phrank Shaibu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Public Communications Assistant to Atiku Abubakar, has made serious allegations against the All-Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of intimidating and harassing the judiciary.

These accusations arise after PDP’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku, voiced concerns about plans to manipulate and undermine the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

In response, the presidency dismissed Atiku’s claims as an attempt to blackmail the judiciary, dismissing them as unfounded and exaggerated.

PDP’s Rebuke of the Presidency:

During an interview with Arise News, Phrank Shaibu sharply criticized the presidency’s response to Atiku’s claims, calling it “unpresidential” and contradictory to their professed commitment to the rule of law and democracy.

Shaibu emphasized that the concerns raised by the PDP were not frivolous, given the past actions of the APC in 2019 when they were accused of interfering with the judiciary to secure their position.

He asserted that the PDP had evidence of such actions and noticed a recurrence of similar behaviors by the APC.

Alleged APC’s Intimidation Tactics:

Shaibu highlighted the APC’s alleged pattern of intimidating and harassing the judiciary, which he claimed was part of their strategy to gain and retain power by any means necessary.

He cited statements from the APC’s candidate during the election, encouraging the use of any means, including stealing, to seize power.

Shaibu clarified that while the PDP acknowledges the inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president, their concerns were aimed at ensuring vigilance and preventing any attempts to compromise the judiciary.

Seeking Unity and Progress:

However, during the same interview, Musa Sarkin Adar, the House of Representatives representative for Goronyo/Gada Federal Constituency, offered a different perspective.

He asserted that the allegations leveled against the ruling party were attempts to blackmail the president and APC by those who believed they had won the election.

Adar encouraged all presidential candidates of other parties to work together with President Tinubu and focus on building the nation rather than engaging in continuous disputes and political maneuvering.

Conclusion:

The accusations and counter-accusations between the PDP and the APC have further deepened political tensions in Nigeria.

The PDP, represented by Phrank Shaibu, stands firm in its claims of the APC’s alleged attempts to influence the judiciary, calling for vigilance and integrity in the judicial process.

On the other hand, Musa Sarkin Adar appeals for unity and cooperation among political parties to advance the nation’s progress.

The situation reflects the ongoing challenges in Nigerian politics, where different parties hold conflicting views about the legitimacy of election results and the conduct of the ruling government.
