Over 10,000 Pension Credit claims were made during the week of 13 June – an increase of 275% compared to that same week in 2021

In comparison to the same week in 2021, there were over 10,000 Pension Credit claims made during the week of June 13—a 275 percent increase.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Len Goodman and Minister for Pensions Guy Opperman collaborated to spread the word, which was a two-step in the right way.

Over 1.3 million people have watched the pair’s social media video encouraging Pension Credit applications.

With the increase, even more retirees may be eligible for further financial assistance worth an average of more than £3,300 annually.

Guy Opperman, the minister for pensions, said:

We understand that some retirees will have difficulties keeping up with the cost of living, which is why promoting Pension Credit is a top priority.

The success of our Day of Action has allowed more retirees to receive the assistance to which they are entitled, but we won’t stop there.

We’re keeping the word out about Pension Credit and urging everyone to check in with retired family members, friends, and loved ones to determine if they qualify for this additional financial support, which can significantly improve people’s lives.

Charities, organizations, broadcasters, and a wide range of partners participated in the Day of Action to encourage individuals to submit claims.

If you are over the State Pension Age and have a low income, Pension Credit can help.

However, you do not have to be receiving State Pension in order to qualify.

For single seniors and couples, it supplements income to a minimum of £182.60 and £278.70 per week, respectively.

Pension Credit is currently provided to more than 1.4 million seniors in Britain. Many people still don’t utilize this additional financial assistance, though.

DWP Visiting Officer Rich Mackenzie said:

Many individuals who qualify for Pension Credit do not.

I urge everybody who interacts with retirees to find out how much they know about Pension Credit.

There’s no doubt that more individuals will face hardship in the current economic circumstances, but it could be something that helps.

Pension Credit won’t eliminate all issues, but it will significantly lessen problems.

We should all work together to accomplish it.

Access to a wide range of supplementary benefits, such as assistance with housing costs, council taxes, or heating bills, can be had with even a minor Pension Credit award.

This continues to grant seniors over 75 the right to a free TV license.

Both over the phone and online, older adults can apply for Pension Credit with ease and safety from any location.

Pensioners can also use the online Pension Credit calculator to determine their eligibility and estimate their potential benefits.
