How to Get a US Visa in Nigeria
Please find out if you need a visa to go to the US or not. Are you a citizen of Nigeria or a person from another country who needs a US visa? And you don’t need a US visa if you already have a valid visa or if your country is part of the Visa Waiver Program.

Please follow the steps below if you want to apply for a non-immigrant visa.
At the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, you can apply for a US visa.
How to Get a Non-Immigrant Visa – Apply Online for a US Visa
Step 1
For an online application for a non-immigrant US visa:
Read General Non-immigrant Visas to find out what kind of visa you need. For each type of visa, you can find out what you need to do and what documents you need to send. Pick the type of visa that works best for you.
Read the Visa Waiver Program as well. Nigeria is not part of the Visa Waiver Program, so you need to apply for a visa to visit there.
Step 2
Once you know what kind of visa you need, you must pay the visa fee. On the page about visa fees, you can see the different types of visas and how much they cost in US dollars and the local currency.
To pay your visa fee, go to the page for choosing a bank and making a payment. This page tells you how to pay the fee for your visa. You’ll need the number on the payment slip to set up your visa interview.
Step 3
The DS-160 form needs to be filled out next. Please make sure to carefully read the DS-160 form’s instructions before filling it out. All of the information must be correct and true. Once the form has been sent, you can’t change it. If you need help, you should talk to an immigration lawyer or a translator. You can’t get help with your DS-160 from the help desk. To set up your interview, you need your DS-160 number.
Step 4
Your interview is almost ready to be set up.
You need to make a profile now.

Fill out all of the sections and come up with a password. Once you log into the system, you will see your home page. On the left side of the menu, click on Set Up an Interview.

Payment confirmation from the bank where the EFT payment was made. On the receipt, the words CGI Virtual Account Number will be written. You can’t set up an interview without a 10-digit barcode from your DS-160 confirmation page with your CGI Virtual Account Number.
When you’re done, you’ll be able to choose the type of visa you want, enter your personal information, add dependents, choose where to send your documents, confirm payment for the visa, and then schedule your interview.
Step 5
On the day and time of your visa interview, go to the American Embassy or Consulate General. Check the Schedule My Interview page to see what documents you need to bring to your interview.
Step 6
If your visa is approved, it will be sent to the place you said it should go when you made your appointment.
