Applicants can check their names on the list available on the SASSA website www.sassa.gov.za and proceed to collect their grants at the nearest Post Office.
Inquiries can be made on 0800 60 10 11 to confirm if there is any outstanding balance.
The South African Post Office has announced that it will no longer pay out the SASSA R350 SRD grant.
Recently, beneficiaries of the R350 SRD grant were urged to look for alternative payment methods given the recent spate of robberies at Post Office branches.
SA POST OFFICE TO STOP PAYING R35O GRANT
SA Post Office spokesperson, Johan Kruger said a new round of applications for the R350 SRD grant has opened which now includes an option where beneficiaries can receive their grant from any Pick n Pay, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, or USave merchant.
“The SA Post Office strongly advises beneficiaries to include this option: Post Office branches will no longer pay out SRD grants,” he said.
SASSA said it heard beneficiaries’ complaints about the previous payment schedule and decided to make a change.
“If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following workday,” said the agency.
NEW R350 SRD GRANT CRITERIA:
The National State of Disaster, which facilitated the SRD grant, came to an end in April 2022. However, the Department of Social Development has been working on a regulatory framework for the payment of the grant since Ramaphosa announced the extension.
Social Development Minister, Lindiwe Zulu gazetted the new regulations on 22 April, a day before the application process reopened.
All beneficiaries of the R350 SRD rant are required to re-apply and the criteria are tighter than before. Many social justice groups and unions feel that the new regulations will leave the poor poorer.
