Today, a helicopter crashed into a field on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales.

As emergency services hurried to the site soon before midday, police advised the public to avoid Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale.

The cause of the helicopter crash is unknown at this time.

Burton in Lonsdale is located on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales, close to the Lancashire and Cumbria borders.
The aircraft is thought to have fallen into a field near Burton in Lonsdale.

‘Emergency services are at the scene of an incident off Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale, where a helicopter has crashed into a field,’ a North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said.

‘The incident occurred just before noon.’ The public is strongly advised to stay away from the area. ‘At this moment, no additional information is available.’

North Yorkshire Ambulance and Fire Services have been contacted for comment.
