The North Atlantic Alliance will support the security facets of the FIFA World Cup, which is slated to take place in the State of Qatar from November 21 through December 18, 2022, as part of the close cooperation between the State of Qatar and NATO.

As part of the assistance, Slovakia and NATO’s Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence in the Czech Republic will provide training against threats posed by chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) materials.

Additionally, Romania will provide training to counter threats presented by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and protect very important individuals (VIPs). This past May, Slovakia held its first training session on CBRN dangers.

The State of Qatar has been an active member of the Atlantic Alliance for many years and is a devoted NATO partner.
