Nissan’s brand-new Qashqai is vying for SA COTY honors once more

Johannesburg: The brand-new Nissan Qashqai has been named a finalist for the 2019 South African Car of the Year (COTY) Awards in the Compact Family category, which its predecessor previously won. Initiated by the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists (SAGMJ), the COTY awards are intended to recognize the “apex of innovation and excellence in the automotive industry” in South Africa.

Since its introduction more than a decade ago, the Nissan Qashqai has remained an industry benchmark, having pioneered the crossover sector, been the brand’s best-selling vehicle, and won the most awards worldwide. The third generation Qashqai has also been well-received in other worldwide markets, obtaining a Five-Star EURO NCAP Rating and the Car of the Year award in the United Kingdom, among other accolades.

This redesigned symbol contains innovative and award-winning safety technology, including Nissan’s Autonomous Driving Level 1 (Nissan ProPILOT), Predictive Front Collision Warning, and Lane Keep Assist. It is the ideal compact family car, providing the best in design, comfort, and safety for all of a family’s daily demands, from the school run to weekend trips.

“We are thrilled that our iconic Qashqai has once again been nominated for Car of the Year. We are pleased that the technologies, design, and quality of our vehicles continue to get this kind of acclaim — a well-deserved tribute to our staff throughout the world who work tirelessly on innovations to guarantee that we continue to manufacture vehicles of the highest quality. We anticipate the award ceremony later this year and expect to receive the highest honors.” remarked Nissan South Africa Country Director Kabelo Rabotho.
