At least nine people were killed in a shopping mall crush in the capital of Uganda on New Year’s Day, according to police.
The Ugandan police reported that following fireworks outside the Freedom City Mall in Kampala, a stampede erupted, resulting in the instantaneous deaths of five individuals and injury to several others.
Emergency personnel rushed on the site and carried the injured to the hospital, where nine victims were pronounced dead.
