Nikola Jokic’s likely third straight MVP award may be attributed to racism

According to ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins, Nikola Jokic’s likely third straight MVP award may be attributed to racism among MVP voters.

During an episode of “First Take,” Perkins suggested that bias towards black players exists among voters, citing the fact that only Jokic, Dirk Nowitzki, and Steve Nash have won the award since 1990 without finishing in the top 10 in scoring.

Perkins insinuated that the lack of black players who fit this criterion may be a result of discriminatory voting practices.

Perkins has also criticized Jokic’s style of play, accusing him of “stat-padding” to achieve a triple-double average.

Despite these criticisms, Jokic remains the frontrunner for the MVP award and could join the ranks of NBA legends Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, and Bill Russell as the only players to win the award in three consecutive seasons.

Jokic’s outstanding performance this season, averaging 24.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 10 assists per game, has helped Denver achieve the best record in the Western Conference with a 44-19 record so far.
