Nine cities across two host countries celebrate the ‘One Year to Go’ milestone by lighting up iconic monuments and creating one-of-a-kind cultural events; tickets will go on sale from October 6 and start at just $20 AUD/NZD for adults and $10 AUD/NZD for kids.
The Unity Pitch was unveiled in Sydney/Gadigal, representing the vibrant cultures of the two host nations.
An early morning cultural lighting event in Hamilton/Kirikiriroa, New Zealand, was followed by the unveiling of a Unity Pitch in Sydney/Gadigal, Australia, and coordinated evening light displays around the nine Host Cities for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura unveiled a Unity Pitch at Barangaroo Reserve in Sydney/Gadigal to commemorate a significant event leading up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
It will be accessible to the general public and neighborhood football teams until July 24 before traveling all nine of the tournament’s Host Cities over the following 12 months.
This exhibit was designed with the tournament’s vibrant livery in mind.
As part of FIFA’s pledge to leave a lasting legacy in the area, a Unity Pitch will be given to both the Australia and New Zealand host nations.
At the introduction of the Unity Pitch, Fatma Samoura, the secretary general of FIFA, said:

The FIFA Women’s World Cup will be genuinely remarkable thanks to the excitement at the lighting ceremony in Hamilton/Kirikiriroa and the love for women’s soccer here at Barangaroo Reserve for the unveiling of the Unity Pitch.
The FIFA, along with the host nations, looks forward to welcome players and supporters from all over the world and moving Beyond Greatness together in 2023.
This competition will serve as a platform to inspire and bring people together through the power of women’s football.
Additionally, FIFA said today that beginning on October 6, tickets for the FIFA Women’s World Cup will be available for purchase online, with prices starting at $20 for adults and $10 for youngsters.
Sarai Bareman, the Chief Women’s Football Officer for FIFA, stated:
“Today is a hugely exciting milestone, and FIFA is hugely excited to see women’s football go Beyond Greatness in 2023,” the organization said.
“Qualifications for the competition are taking place around the world, there are more community spaces for women and girls to play football, and tickets are about to be released.”
The Harbour Bridge and Sky Tower in Auckland/Tmaki Makaurau, the Parliament buildings in Wellington/Te Whanganui-a-Tara, as well as places in Melbourne/Naarm, Brisbane/Meaanjin, Adelaide/Tarntanya, Perth/Boorloo, and Dunedin/tepoti were lit up to celebrate “One Year to Go” until the biggest competition in women’s football comes to the Southern Hemisphere.
The Sydney Harbour Bridge’s lights will be turned on by the FIFA Secretary General later this evening.
